First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne is blessed with dedicated leaders, both paid and volunteer. In practical day-to-day operations, we follow a leadership model whereby we are ministry staff-led, deacon-served, ministry team/committee reviewed, and church approved.
Our Leadership structure would be classified as “Elder Led Congregationalism.” Our Elder team is our ordained pastoral staff members: Mike Lovely, Griff Servati, and Jace Williamson.
First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne uses a Committee structure to carry out the church's various ministries. We have four administrative committees: Finance, Personnel, Safety, and Operations. These committees comprise six members, who serve a three-year term and must rotate off for at least a year. In addition, we have an admin council (Policy and Procedure) with representatives from each of the committees, a staff member, two deacons, and two church members. To be on a committee, a person must be a church member. The committee’s structure is approved in our February Members Meeting.
