A Fresh Start in Worship
Series: Fresh Start
Worship has been a divisive issue in many churches.  We disagree about the order of worship, the style of worship, and the expression of worship.  But some of the things that we consider essential in worship are just personal preferences. True worship happens when we acknowledge who God is and who we are.  In this last message in the Fresh Start series, Pastor Mike reminds us of three things that are essential: We must be faithful to worship, we must be faithful in worship, and we must be faithful after worship.

Everything that we have is a gift from God: money, time, talents.  Stewardship is the use of God-given resources for the accomplishment of God-given goals. In this message, based on 2 Corinthians 9, Pastor Mike gives us 4 key principles for being good stewards: Learn to give abundantly, love to give cheerfully, look to give expectantly, and long to give faithfully.

    A Fresh Start in Witnessing
    Series: Fresh Start
In a courtroom, when a witness is placed on the stand they can only state something they personally know to be true - something they have seen or experienced.  Jesus told his disciples they would be witnesses. They were to tell the world what they had seen and had learned from him.  We are also called to be witnesses. And although we have not seen him in person as the disciples did, we have experienced his life-changing power.  As witnesses for Christ, we must utilize the power of the Holy Spirit, emphasize the person of the Son, and mobilize the plan of Scripture.

    The Gift of Grace
Grace isn't fair.  It is so much better than fair.  You don't deserve it.  You can't work for it.  God gives gifts, not wages.  The wages of our sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus, our Lord.

    Amazing Grace
John Newton, the man who wrote the hymn, Amazing Grace, said as he neared the end of his life, "My memory is nearly gone, but I remember two things, that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Saviour."  When we become aware of the sin in our lives, we see ourselves and others differently.  And we also understand that we are lost without the grace of God.

    A Fresh Start in Prayer
    Series: Fresh Start
Prayer is one of the main disciplines that a follower of Christ needs in order to grow to maturity.  In Luke 11:1-13, Jesus uses a "model prayer" to teach His disciples how to pray, then gives practical examples of the effectiveness of prayer.  In this passage we are taught to pray consistently, pray correctly, and pray continuously.

    A Father’s Grace
    Series: DNow
Our earthly fathers shape how we view our heavenly Father.  But scripture gives us a more accurate picture of who God is.  In Luke, chapter 15, Jesus tells a story about a father and two sons.  We usually focus on the "prodigal" son, but we can learn much about our relationship with God by looking at the father and the other son.  In this story we see a picture of the Father's grace.

    A Glimpse of Grace
    Series: Fresh Start
Acts 9 contains the account of the conversion of Paul (then known as Saul).  It is a powerful testimony, but it is essentially the same for anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ.  It is the story of someone realizing that he is a lost sinner in need of the grace of God.  In this chapter, we see Paul's life before he met Christ, his life unraveling in need of Christ, Paul being confronted by Christ, and his life after he met Christ.
