In accordance with the meaning of the work and practice in the New Testament, FBCVA Deacons are to be servants of the Church. Our task is to serve with the pastor and staff in performing the pastoral ministries of:
Leading the church in the achievement of its’ mission
Proclaiming the gospel to believers and unbelievers
Caring for the church’s members
It is our intent not to be “business administrators”, but to be servants, ministering to the needs of our members, praying over all ministries & activities, and working to preserve the peace and unity of the church.
We have chosen the “Family Ministry Plan” as a structure for ministering to our church families. We are very excited about this ministry, and humbled that the task is impossible without the Grace of God. We realize that this effort will not be perfect. As with each one of us, members of the body of Christ, the Lord has gifted us to serve in various ways…good at some…less in others. Please be patient with us as we seek to follow the Lord in our ministry to you.
Each member family will have an assigned deacon who will love, pray, and minister to their needs, as each family will allow. Please contact the church office, or any one of our deacons, to learn of the deacon assigned to you.
Thank you for the opportunity you have given us to serve…we do not take this calling lightly. Please pray for us as we seek to serve in the pattern of a New Testament deacon. Please remain in prayer for our church…that we be vibrant and alive for Christ.
